Educating Rita is a gem of a comedy...a moving and often hilarious story of two souls who

ultimately “educate” each other. Hairdresser Rita, eager to learn “everything,” enrolls at the

Open University in a northern British city. World-weary Frank, who often finds solace in the

bottle, is her reluctant tutor.

Dramatist Willy Russell mines his own life. He left school at fifteen, worked as a hairdresser,

returning to school at twenty to become an award-winning playwright. The original

production of Educating Rita won The Comedy Of The Year in 1980.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Corvallis Public Schools Foundation to support the STAGES summer theater camp of the Corvallis School District Theaters. (The Corvallis School District does not necessarily sponsor this organization or its activities. The District assumes no liability for its contents or events arising out of this distribution. )
